Tips for burning candles, wax melts & using room diffusers

CANDLES:

To ensure the safe and proper use of our products, we strongly advise you follow the below steps.

Important Stuff :
Failure to follow warning label instructions could result in fire or injury.

  • Candles can cause fires.
  • Remove all packaging and labels before burning.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Never burn a candle for longer than 4 hours at a time.
  • Never use a candle as a night light.
  • Burn candle out of reach of children and pets.
  • Keep candles on a heatproof surface.
  • Keep candles away from flammable surfaces.
  • Always leave at least 10cm between burning candles.
  • Do not burn candles on or near anything that can catch fire.
  • Do not drop matches or any other objects into the wax.
  • Keep your candles away from drafts to keep the flame steady. An unsteady flame causes soot and gives off a smoky scent.
  • Trim your wick! Keep your wick trimmed to 5mm. This will give a much cleaner burn and prevent the candle from creating soot.
  • Don’t burn a candle all the way down. We recommend leaving 5mm of wax in the container.
  • Never handle candles that are in use.
  • Always snuff out the candle. Do not blow out.
  • Keep the wax pool clear and clear of matches and other debris to avoid flaring.
  • Centre the wick after each burn and do not allow trimmed wicks, matches or other objects to remain in the candle.
  • Never use the container lid to put out flame.
  • Do not allow water or moisture to mix with the wax. This can cause the wax to splatter or pop.
  • Keep candles out of direct sunlight and do not store in temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius.
  • Extinguish a candle if it repeatedly smokes, flickers, or the flame becomes too high.

There are safety instructions on the base of all of our candles. Please feel free to contact us if you're unsure and we'll be happy to help.

WAX MELTS:

Wax shots or melts are basically lumps of fragranced wax that do not have a wick like traditional candles. They are designed to be used in appropriate oil burners or wax melters. Our wax melts are suitable for both traditional burners that use tea lights, as well as electric melters.

To Use :- Simply remove from the packaging or container and place in the top of your melter. The wax will melt slowly in the dish as it heats up, and releases the fragrance. When the tea light has been extinguished or the melter has been turned off, the wax will re-harden ready for use next time. Unlike candles, the wax in melts will not evaporate. You can re-use the wax a number of times, until the fragrance has gone completely.

  • Remove from packaging, break appropriate size for chosen burner
  • Place into burner well.  As the well heats up the wax will begin to warm up and melt, releasing wonderful smells into your home.
  • When the tea light has been extinguished or the burner turned off, the wax will re-harden ready for next use
  • Unlike candles, wax melts do not evaporate.  You can continue to use the wax multiple times, until all the smelly goodness is gone.
  • When finished with, the best way to remove wax is when starting to melt you can pop it out of well.  Also using loo roll / cotton wool pads to soak up.  Dispose of these in bin or save them and use as firelighters in your wood burners / home fire.

To change your wax melt, light the tea light and place It underneath the wax in the burner. Wait for around  40 seconds to a minute until the wax has slightly melted on the bottom and pop the wax out by hand. Wipe up any excess wax with a cotton pad carefully.

Important Stuff:

  • Always use within sight and never leave unattended.
  • Always ensure that you do not overfill your bowl.
  • Keep burners and melted wax away from pets and children.
  • Do not eat melts no matter how good they smell - they are toxic if ingested.
  • Wax / burner will remain hot after the tea light has been extinguished / burner switched off.
  • Do not try to move the oil burner / wax melter until it has cooled completely and the wax has solidified.
  • Do not add water or fragrance oils to the bowl under any circumstances.
  • Keep wax and burner clear of debris.
  • Only ever use unscented tea lights as fragrance ones burn too hot.
  • Only use standard sized 4hr tea lights.  Never use the larger 8hr tea lights or multiples as these can cause the burners to break
  • Never place burner in freezer to help dislodge wax.  This can weaken structure of the burner.
  • Ensure that the surface under the melt burner is heatproof.
  • If you buy a new ceramic burner, always allow it to come to room temperature before using.  Using a cold burner can cause the well to crack from the heat of the tea light - this then becomes a huge fire risk.
  • Ensure that the surface under the melter is heatproof..
  • When the fragrance has completely gone the best way to remove the wax from the bowl without spillages is to use cotton wool or kitchen roll.
  • Ensure the tea light has extinguished or you have turned the melter off. Allow the wax to cool slightly and simply pop a cotton wool ball or some tissue in the bowl. This will soak up the melted wax.
  • Please dispose of carefully. DO NOT pour down the plughole (the wax will harden and cause a blockage)!! Give the bowl a wipe with a clean piece of kitchen roll to remove any leftover residue, and the melter is ready to use again.

REED DIFFUSERS:

Information:

Our reed diffusers have wonderful aromas that invigorate and excite the senses, but as with so many things it is important they are used safely so please read the following safety advice:

Unlike candles, reed diffusers are flame free and do not require any heat. They disperse scent into the air naturally. No flame means no soot and more importantly, no risk of fire! This makes reed diffusers safer for your room.
You should use new reeds whenever you switch to a new scent, if the reeds become completely saturated, or if they become clogged with dust. Simply replace with new reeds to get the scent flowing again.

There are many factors that contribute to how long reed diffusers last. Fans, humidity, air conditioning, heating, closed doors, open doors, dehumidifiers, etc. However, as a general rule of thumb our reed diffusers should last for approximately 3-4 months.

Important Stuff:

  • Do not ingest oils.
  • We do not advise flipping your reeds. However if you chose to do so, use caution when filling your bottles with oil or flipping your reeds as oils can damage some surfaces.
  • Be careful not to tip over the diffuser.
  • Please keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • Diffuser liquid and vapour can be highly flammable.
  • Keep away from heat/open flames & avoid smoking near the product.
  • May cause serious eye irritation.
  • May cause an allergic skin reaction.
  • Harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effects, take care to dispose of carefully.

Medical Advice:

Please make note of the following advice, always keep the packaging and if in doubt seek medical attention immediately.

  • Skin Contact - remove any contaminated clothing immediately and rinse skin with copious amounts of water. In the event of irritation, always seek medical attention.
  • Eye Contact - rinse with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if you are able to and continue rinsing with water. In the event of irritation, always seek medical attention.
  • If Swallowed - SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION - CALL 999.
  • Allergies - People suffering from perfume sensitivity should use caution when using reed diffuser products.
